Lingering Afterthoughts

Do you get those? ... you know, right after you had that intense conversation with someone and think of the things you said ... and then think of the things you actually wanted to say? ... ;o7

Happy Monday everyone! I'm still busier than the pooper-scooper at a rodeo, but wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you ... :o) (um, but not with that pooper-scooper thing in mind, though ... 'kay? .. ;o))

#MacroMonday , 'cuz I'm thinking fondly on Sandra and Jeff ... ;o))

Tip four of Seven Brilliant Etiquette Tips from Charming Home Studio Art Guests

– do not be afraid to ask questions and to look closely at your favourites.

Most artists are happy to tell you about the background of a piece and show you the work in different light. I frequently move work around for guests as the light is always changing. Seeing work at its best in a home environment isn’t as easy as when there is gallery lighting. Even taking in out into natural light is no trouble at all and can be a lot of fun.

Read all seven tips while meandering Terrill's Home Studio in today's Creative Potager post at:

Is it weird or am I missing something?...
The most puzzling and interesting thing has happened on Google Plus. My Business Page at +Terrill Welch Fine Arts is far more popular than my profile page. The art page has been added to over 30,000 circles and just keeps growing. My profile page however has remained rather static for the past six months and is slowly deflating. The difference is that my Art Business Page is strictly about the business of selling my art. Generally, the Art Business Page is not a place of conversation or where I share work-in-progress. My Art Page rarely shares anything but my own work. The Page seldom visits follower profiles or shares in Community. It is narrowly designed as an easy place to find access to my purchase my finished paintings, photography and art products. I find it a bit odd in a world of SOCIAL media that my Business Art Page with its narrow focus would be outshining my chatty, sharing and commenting profile page. Any thoughts?

Oh the range. (S.o.t.c. Jpg)

I've been using the x100 as my travel rig for a couple of trips now, and I dig it more and more. Super quiet, super light, just a barrel of all around fun. I still pack my main rig and like 1000 lenses and extras for the wildlife trips...but I'm getting closer to the XT-1 switch every day.

Oh yeah, this is at St. Chappelle, in Paris, where Louis could put his little hands on the "crown of thorns" and "the cross" whenever he wanted to.

Danielle, my sister, entering the gardens of Versailles. This will be a little project photo for when I get home. I thought I'd share the "before" pic with you now.

Big night ahead of us; boat ride along the Seine, a picnic dinner at la tour Eiffel, maybe a carousel ride, and even more craziness than I can say here.

Just a little 4:30pm nap and I'll be good to go.

Yes that's my second nap today after sleeping in until 9am. What?!

I explored the Gila River in Goodyear this Morning. I climbed to the top of one of the hills to view the lightning storm amd was treated to 50 mph+ winds. I stayed up there through sunrise then hiked down to explore around the dry river bed. Great Times.

Bye bye Etsy!

Today is filling orders and playing SimCity.

I'm thisclose to burnt out, so taking today easier. Will get around to code once I can think straight. The past month has been intense.

(Does it look like it to anyone other than Steve and I? Nope, probably not. Does that matter? Nope. Taking time off is not about what others see. I will learn this, heh.)

"Death Star Over Endor" scene composed by Dale Jackson
1920x1080 desktop wallpaper. Download to see better resolution.

Again, another scene I composed in Cinema 4D. This time it's a recreation of one of my favorite scenes from Return of the Jedi. The Free models of the Imperial Star Destroyer 3D model by Ansel Hsiao (Fractalsponge); the Tie Fighter model by James Bassett; and the Death Star by  Thomas Banner are available for free at http://www.scifi3d.com/.  I composed and lit the scene, working on the models as well. The Death Star needed a new dish and since many of the models were not built in Cinema 4D compatible, I've had to rework them to get them to look good in C4D.

Quite accidentally (or may be it was an instance or serendipity), I came across a description of life and work of Mary Delaney, who started a ten-year long "project" of creating 1000 botanically accurate mixed-media collages of flowers (now in British Museum) when she was 72 (in 1772), and managed to make 985 of them before her eyesight fell her. If this weren't enough, she was actually an inventor of this art form -- it appears, no one had done it before. The idea crossed her mind when she noticed that a flower petal and a piece of coloured paper on her table were of exact same colour... Quite a lesson for our hurried age.

Picasso reportedly said that one doesn't get young before sixty, and by then, it's too late. Obviously not, if one follows Mary Delaney's example... For me, at least, this makes my sonnets project look much less daunting and decidedly less long-term (and I have almost a quarter of century left before 72, anyway). So yes, if you think it's too late to start something -- just read more about Mary Delaney... :)

Day 5. A break in the hot weather.

We skipped our usual Day 4 Free Day (which normally means nap day for us non-twenty somethings). After crashing for almost 12 hours, I have had a crazy busy day of putting laundry in the washer, getting an espresso, and walking a block to the grocery store. Now I need a nap.

My sister, still a twenty something, has been out stomping around since 6:30am. And she's been here for a month...

I'm not feeling old at all. Not at all... Now, where's my muscle cream and aspirin?

New 1920x1080 wallpaper now available to download. Enjoy!  Title: "Vader on the Bridge"

Scene lighting and compositing by me.  Original Star Destroyer bridge 3D model by Sean Kennedy (Treybor) at http://www.scifi3d.com/list.asp?intGenreID=10&intCatID=8;  Darth Vader 3D model by Nick Pappas at http://www.scifi3d.com/list.asp?intGenreID=10&intCatID=13

There was a lot of work to get this one to look right, as many of these 3D models weren't built in Cinema 4D, so their textures don't translate into Cinema 4D and have to be reapplied.  The lighting was totally reworked as were a majority of the textures. I added Vader into the scene and only needed to make materials for his cape and helmet.  The crew in the pits are from HD screencaps at: http://starwarsscreencaps.com/

Figured I'd post this one for +William Highfield. It's about as close as we got this trip, but we did talk up L'Auberge du Cheval Noir quite a bit.

I'm also going to blame this bottle (and two others) for why I left my 2 stop ND filter on while taking the evening river cruise down the Seine... I really could used those two extra stops. Anyone want to see a big blurry gold thing above what looks like it could be water?

Thanks goodness it wasn't a photo trip...

oh what a nice relief. Stop the insanity! Now if they can just make an app to "turn off" comment on news feeds. LOL!
Dale Jackson Dale Jackson

This is a before and after of what the Star Destroyer bridge scene.  Often when bringing in a 3D scene from another app. like 3DS Max or Maya or Lightwave into Cinema 4D, it doesn't translate too well, so there needs to be a fair amount of work to get it to look right.
